Do you have a food menu?

During the World Cup events in Kansas City, we will be offering a small menu of sandwiches prepared by Affäre KC each day.  Offerings include a housemade brat on a pretzel bun, roastbeef sandwich on baguette, and vegetarian sandwich on ciabatta. Guests are also welcome to bring in food or have orders delivered. Popular choices include ordering take-out from The Brick (which is next door to the brewery), or ordering pizza from Buffalo State Pizza (no delivery fees and 15% off your order!).

Where can I buy your beer?

The best place to find our beer is on draft in our taproom where it is always the most fresh and provides the greatest variety of choices. At any time, we may also be on tap at select bars, restaurants, and liquor stores throughout the Kansas City metro area. Some locations include Brookside Wine & Spirits, Mike’s Wine & Spirits Westport/Brookside/Waldo locations, Gomer’s Midtown, Velo Garage, Chartreuse Saloon, Jack Stack BBQ, Burnt Ends BBQ, Escape Lounge at MCI Airport, The Commons at Cinder Block, Gram and Dun, Waldo Pizza, Goat and Rabbit, Cru Bistro, among other locations across the metro. In Missouri, we self-distribute. For Kansas locations, we are distributed by Worldwide Beverage.

Can I get beers to go?

Absolutely! We have a variety of six-packs ready to go in our cooler located near the rest of our merchandise. We also sell 25-oz crowlers that are made to order for $10. Crowlers are aluminum cans that are easily recycled after use and because they aren’t glass, they make the perfect companion for outdoor fun such as kickball, softball, glamping, laying by the pool….you get it. The other benefit is that the tight seal of the can maintains the beer’s flavor and carbonation up to two weeks after being packaged in the taproom! Note: Any beer on nitro will not be available for crowler or growler fills, but we do have limited runs of our nitro beers in six-packs thanks to our nitro-doser from Chart. You can find nitro cans in the six-pack cooler. We do fill outside growlers, but the growler MUST be clean before bringing it to the brewery.

Where can I park?

There is free street parking on McGee just steps from our front door. A variety of paid parking lots are within a short walk to our front doors as well including at 17th and McGee, and 18th and Oak Streets. We are also just 2 blocks from the street car off Main Street.

Do you have TVs?

Yes! In our main taproom (the Beer Conservatory) we have a 17-ft big screen that is a great place to catch any sporting event. In our smaller taproom (the Original Taproom) we have two TVs that can be used for additional sports viewing, or for slideshows used for private events. If an event or game that you want to watch isn’t immediately viewable, please ask at the bar and we’d be happy to assist you.

What is the capacity of the brewery?

The larger Beer Conservatory can accommodate groups up to 200 people. Our Original Taproom (smaller room) can comfortably host up to 50 people. Both taprooms are adjacent to each other and have the option of outside seating on our sidewalk pergola patios.

Do you have wine?

Yes! We have a variety of bottled wine options including a sauvignon blanc, sparkling French wine, Italian prosecco, Rosé, Malbec, Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon, and a canned sangria made by KC Wineworks.

Is there outside seating?

Both taprooms have limited outside seating on our sidewalk pergola patios. Inside the taprooms, we have skylights and high ceilings that offer a unique inside-outside vibe.

What are your hours? Are you open late?

WORLD CUP UPDATE: JUNE 5-JULY 12TH: WE WILL BE OPEN EVERYDAY FROM 11AM TO 11PM.

We are not a late-night bar. We open at 12pm noon every day. On Sundays we close at 7pm, Monday-Thursday at 9pm, and Friday-Saturday at 10pm. We will have special hours during certain events including the World Cup where we will be open at 11am each day and close at 11pm, Monday through Sunday, 7 days a week.

Who does the art?

All the art in the taproom including the canvas paintings, murals, and beer posters are designed by the owner and head brewer, Kyle. Before taking the leap into full-time brewing and brewery operations, Kyle worked professionally as a graphic designer (a graduate of the KU Fine Arts program!).

HOW DO YOU WATER ALL THE PLANTS?

We have a basic drip irrigation to most of the hanging plants, but also use a commercial hose extender to water. Yes, it sometimes can be messy, but we do it with plenty of time to clean up before we are open to the public. All other plants have different water needs and are checked using a moisture meter to try to avoid overwatering.

How big is your BREW system?

We are a 7bbl brewing system, which roughly translates to a yield of 12-14 kegs each time we brew. If you ever want a behind-the-scenes look at the equipment, feel free to come into the taproom during off-peak hours and see if the beertender or one of the owners is available for a quick tour.

Are you kid friendly?

Kids are more than welcome to visit the brewery as long as they are attended by a parent or guardian over the age of 21! After 8pm on Friday and Saturday nights, we do recommend leaving the half pints at home as the taproom can get crowded with exuberant adults tapping into their wild side.

DO YOU HAVE GAMES?

We have a variety of small, table-top games available throughout the taproom including cards, backgammon, Scrabble, Battleship, and more. We also have two Winmau dart boards with darts and a 16-foot shuffleboard table. Please be kind to those wanting to play after you! Returning games to their original boxes, with ALL pieces, and to the designated game areas is greatly appreciated.

DO YOU offer non-beer options?

We offer a vodka spritz or hard cider that we make in-house and are gluten-free. We also have a canned sangria (white wine base) made by KC Wineworks, as well as bottled wines including a sparkling French brut, prosecco, sauvignon blanc, rosé, malbec, pinot noir, and cabernet. Non-alcoholic options include NA beers by Untitled Art, sparkling water, gatorade, kombucha, caprisun, coffee, tea, and hot cocoa and hot cider. We are not a full bar and do not offer hard alcohol besides the vodka spritz on tap.

Do you accept reservations?

Seats are typically first come, first served. However, if you know you’ll have a large group visiting, please visit our EVENTS - RESERVE OUR SPACE tab for more information and to complete the Event Request Form. Please know that due to our taproom size and peak traffic hours, we may not be able to accommodate all requests. Reservations for large groups are not required, but we do want to make sure you have a good experience while here. Please give us a call ahead of time so we can be adequately staffed behind the bar to serve you. Large groups Monday-Wednesday typically do not require a reservation unless you’d like a guaranteed set of tables.

Are you hiring?

We aren’t always in an active hiring phase, but we also never publicly announce when we are. If you love Casual Animal, and an opportunity to join the team gets you fired up, GREAT! We encourage you to complete our pre-employment form if you would like to be considered in our next pool of candidates.
